Turtle Racing HD "Race Edition" Clutch System

The Turtle Racing clutch systems have become the universal standard for high performance Baja applications. The HD clutch system includes three main components:

• Heavy duty clutch bell carrier
• One piece machined gear plate with integrated bearing carrier
• Solid machined one piece clutch bell with over sized pinion key way.

The clutch bell carrier is made in the USA of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum. It features oversize Team FastEddy 15x32 bearings preinstalled. This 15mm inner diameter bearing means a larger diameter shaft for the one piece steel clutch bell and more strength. The clutch bell features a wider key way for the pinion gear. The most critical part of this system is the change to a massive M6 sized pinion bolt to hold the gear to the bell. The original factory pinion gear is only 4mm in diameter and subject to breaking/shearing. That problem is gone with the TR HD Clutch system.

Moving to the next piece is the one piece gear plate. This simplifies the design while adding strength. The gear plate now integrates the transmission layshaft support with a FastEddy bearing pre-installed. The small plastic dust guard is also no longer needed. Strengthening ribs support the bearing to increase rigidity in the driveline to ensure smooth operation.

The Turtle Racing HD clutch system will require that you change your pinion gear to the TR style pinion gear made for the 15mm bearing and M6 pinion bolts. They are sold separately and can be seen here

This Race Edition clutch system features an open clutch bell carrier. This version removes more material and weight than the enclosed clutch systems. This lets the clutch bell and clutch shoes receive more airflow prolonging the life of the clutch and more consistent performance.
Available pinion options:
16T or 17T pinion gear for use with the stock 57T spur gear
18T Pinion gear for use with 56T spur
19T pinion gear for use with 55T spur
20T pinion gear for use with 54T spur.
