“Protecta” is proud to introduce the “Protecta-Baja” skid plate. With the recent growth in racing and heavy bashing of the Baja 5B, Protecta felt it was time to solve some issues suffered by racers and bashers alike.
If you have suffered from any of the following issues:
Broken pull start from sliding into obsticle sideways/t-boned by fellow racer
Broken spur gear/spur gear cover from sliding into obstacle/t-boned by fellow racer
Stock skid plate comes loose, and gets under rear wheels
Stock skid plate falls off
Stock skid plate wears out
Front of skid plate catches and gets ripped downward
The added protection from this “Protecta” product will help solve all of these issues. This "Protecta-Baja” skid plate is constructed of .125 aluminum, press bent with an automated machine for consistency and accuracy. The skid plate is designed to fit up inside the lexan side pods. This design offers 2 extra holes per side to mount the lexan side pods in a fashion that allows you to cut the bottom of the pods off entirely, and eliminates the problem of tearing the lexan pods when bottoming out the car. The forward facing edge of the plate joins the top chassis rails, as to deflect the car into the air when hitting a good sized obstacle in a forward direction.
This skid plate install requires drilling 2 holes in the chassis, and installing 2 threaded inserts included with the kit. There will be a few extra moments involved in removing the skid plate for general maintenance. The kit includes all necessary hardware and instructions. The instructional photos can be found here……:
