Turtle Racing Snapper Clutch 3001 & 3002

All TR Snapper Clutches Now Include The Carbon Fiber Disk Set

Turtle Racing has designed a High Performance disc style clutch for 1/5 scale RC.  There’s a very good reason your full size car doesn’t have drum clutch or drum brakes, nothing works as good as Discs. The slippage is very minimal eliminating heat, no more clutch fade on your Losi 5ive, HPI Baja, Losi Desert Buggy XL (DBXL), Go-Ped or other high performance application. Another bonus is the adjustability, out of the package you can adjust the engagement RPM, but with our optional tuning package you will have a huge range of adjustments. Three additional spring rates and three different weights in the tuning kit will change RPM and the severity of the bite. There is a “long” base 3001 that is for standard small block Zen/CY engines (like the G290RC) and engines with no seal in the clutch housing. The “short” base 3002 is for G320/G340, Zen/CY with OBR second clutch bearing, sealed clutch housing motors, and RCMAX.

Weight of the snapper clutch unit itself is 4.6oz.

"Long" and "Short" describes the length of the base as shown in this picture.

The picture on the left illustrates the use of the Long (3001) base. You can actually see a section of the crank that is “straight”, not tapered. The Long Version fits standard small block Zen/CY engines and engines with no seal in the clutch housing. (Fits Zenoah G230RC/G240RC/G260RC/G270RC/G290RC, CY("Fuelie") CY23RC/CY26RC/CY29RC/CY31RC/GP290, RCMK CR290/CR300)- Basically, the Long version fits most motors out there other than the new Zenoah G320RC, and RCMAX..

The picture on the right illustrates the use of the Short (3002) base. There is no visible “straight” section of the crank. The Short Version Fits Zenoah G320RC/G340RC, Zen/CY with OBR second clutch bearing, sealed clutch housing motors, and RCMAX.

"Basket" Required For Use! You will need to purchase the Snapper Basket to fit your application.

RCMax and Snapper Clutch Info:
If you are going to put the Snapper on the RCMax, you will probably need to deburr the end of the crank. It has a very sharp edge and will not allow the Snapper to sit completely on the crank. It works fine for stock clutch carriers because they are not hard anodized.
You can deburr it using your method of choice but you will need to round off the sharp edge of the crank evenly, all the way around. Do not install your base before you do this, once the sharp edge cuts into the base, the damage is done.
Also, make sure you check the center screw length as stated in install instructions and make sure you tighten the center screw on the Snapper good and tight, this also dictates how far the clutch sits on the crank. If it's not tight enough, your basket will probably hit the Snapper Clutch and the base will spin on the crank. If your base spins on the crank, you will need to do some very intense cleaning of the crank and inside of base. You will have to remove the build up and do so without altering the crank or base at all.
If your pinion gear hits the gear plate you will need to add a shim between the pinion and bearing
